CFC 3: Going for the Gold Medal In Regional MMA With Their Co-Main Event

Conquer Fighting Championships (CFC), as a frontrunner in Northern California’s MMA market, is mimicking the Viacom-backed powerhouse by signing Deron Winn to debut against a regional veteran, Mike ‘Chunk’ Morales (7-5-1).

After collecting numerous accolades on the mats throughout his days in high school, college, and even as an Olympic hopeful, Winn opted to trade-in his singlet for a pair of four-ounce gloves. The itch to climb the ranks as a mixed martial artist tickled Winn’s skin after visiting AKA (American Kickboxing Academy) and sharing training sessions with the UFC Light Heavyweight Champion: Daniel ‘DC’ Cormier. In an article at Intermat (link here), prior to his push to display national pride in the 2016 Olympic Games, a post on Facebook by the Missouri native informed everyone as to the direction of his competitive conquests:

“Just a few weeks back, I went to train in San Jose at AKA with the UFC light heavyweight champ Daniel Cormier. Before going there, I would say I had little to no interest in being a professional fighter. After I trained MMA for about a week, my interest skyrocketed.”

While most rookies are slowly ushered along, the matchmakers at CFC inked a deal that, seemingly, tossed the _3bWLPPAdebutant to the wolves. Standing across from Winn will be Morales, a journeyman with thirteen fights under his belt. ‘Chunk’ will roll into Richmond’s Craneway Pavilion with a win at Global Knockout 8 at the end of 2016 in his rearview mirror, so, regardless of his record, a surge of success and a wealth of experience could lead the product of Iron Pit Fight Team to the top of the podium.

Under the watchful eye of Zinkin, an entertainment organization that represents a number of former wrestlers entering MMA, Winn seeks to join the countless examples of dominant wrestlers who successfully transitioned into the planet’s most electrifying sport as the co-main event at CFC 3.
